GREENHOUSE APARTMENT, Walmer Castle

From this first floor apartment you look over the enclosed kitchen garden which has supplied
the castle with vegetables, fruit and flowers for over 300 years. There is also a good view of
the ancient and curiously sculpted yew hedges lining the Broadwalk and leading up to the
castle. But the real joy of this apartment is its proximity not only to the castle, but also to the
long sweep of shingle beach and the sea – less than five minutes walk away.
Walmer Castle has many reminders of its former inhabitants. The Pitt Museum contains
memorabilia of William Pitt the Younger, the Duke of Wellington’s room reflects the simplicity
of the living / sleeping quarters he chose, whilst close by in the Wellington Museum, aspects of
the Duke’s private life are on display including a pair of the famous ‘Wellington’ boots.

across the productive and beautifully tended kitchen garden. It too is within very easy walking
distance of the castle and the beach and if booked together with the apartment makes the
perfect holiday home for extended families or parties of friends. Walmer Castle has many

A fair maiden with golden tresses waiting to e rescued by a handsome prince – as in the best
classic fairytales – sadly won’t be part of the inventory for a stay in this romantic 13th century
tower. The drawbridge has gone too but as compensation, the Tower oozes with character and
has fantastic views. A new roof terrace gives guests an unsurpassed panorama over the
channel from a unique and private location. Guests here really do feel like lords of all they
survey! Whilst staying at Peverell’s Tower, you will be at the heart of Dover Castle and able to
enjoy all it has to offer: guided tours of the Secret Wartime Tunnels, audio tours of the
Medieval Tunnels and the Battlements Walk, a Regimental Museum and a film recreating the
time when the castle prepared for the visit of Henry VIII in 1539.
