The famous Golden Arrow steam train drew hundreds of spectators as it made a rare visit to East Kent. The
sleek green locomotive was once a regular sight, hauling carriages of travellers up the steep incline from
Folkestone Harbour. This time its journey was no less busy, as it made the round trip to Canterbury bursting
with train enthusiasts. Crowds surrounded the picturesque harbour at Folkestone, clinging to all manner of
vantage points to get the best views, as they saw the train slowly begin its climb up the steepest mainline
railway incline in Britain. For many it was a chance to see a rare moment of history re-lived, whilst for others
it bought back memories of days gone by. Everyone agreed, however, that it was a truly magnificent sight.
