Despite being one of the smallest regions in the county, there is still plenty to do
in the Dartford area. Of course, Dartford itself lies on the original Roman road from
Dover to London, so the district has been much visited over the centuries.
But it’s more modern attractions that are a major draw here today. Former hostage
Tom Hart Dyke’s ‘World Garden’ at his ancestral home, Lullingstone Castle, is still
maturing, but is already a popular stopping place - especially since it was featured
in a BBC television series. Slightly less tranquil
is Brands Hatch race circuit, which has a full
programme of local, national, and international
races for cars, bikes, and even trucks!
Below are listed some of the main attractions
of the Dartford area, and there are some other
suggestions in the box on the left. Have fun!
The Darent Valley has some lovely walks,
both along the river, & in the surrounding
countryside.
The pretty villages along, and just off of,
the main road - Farningham, Eynesford, &
Shoreham, for example - are also worth a
wander around.
