The area around Tonbridge is predominantly rural countryside which, although attractive, has
less specific attractions than most of its neighbours. Having said that, it is home to what’s
become the premier events show-ground for the county - The Hop Farm Country Park.
The Hop Farm has grown from what once the Whitbread Brewery’s showpiece hop farm, and
now host events of some kind almost every week of the year. The largest - and the largest
event in Kent - is the spectauclar 5-day long War and Peace Show that takes place each
July, when over 4000 privately owned historic military
vehicles converge from all over the world.
The River Medway flows serenely through the district,
and offers many pleasant paths to walk, and areas to
picnic.
For those with an interest in history, Tonbridge Castle
has impressive remains, & places such as Hadlow, Leigh,
and Yalding are amongst many worth exploring.
